Prepare for Your Visit

A little preparation helps us understand your circumstances, choose an appropriate approach and make your visit more useful. Please review the information below before coming to RAIKO Center.

Before Your First Consultation

For your first consultation, please avoid alcohol beforehand and limit caffeinated drinks where possible, as these may influence how you feel and your baseline assessment. Take your usual prescribed medications as directed. If you use non-prescription pain relief or other products that could temporarily change how you feel, please let us know rather than stopping anything that is medically necessary.

Complete your pre-visit assessment and forms
Please complete any questionnaires or forms sent to you before your appointment. These help us understand your goals, relevant health information, current circumstances and what you would like to explore during your visit.

Hydration Before Your Visit

Please arrive well hydrated. Unless you have been medically advised to restrict fluids, drink water regularly during the day before your visit and have a glass of still water shortly before your appointment. Hydration can be particularly relevant when using technologies where electrical conductivity and electrode contact are involved.

Physical Activity & Recovery

Where possible, avoid unusually intense exercise or heavy physical work before your visit. Arriving reasonably rested can make it easier to understand your usual baseline rather than the temporary effects of exceptional physical strain.

Clothing, Skin & Personal Devices

Wear comfortable clothing and follow any specific access instructions provided for your session. Where electrodes or other applicators contact the skin, avoid applying creams or oils to those areas beforehand. Please remove electronic devices from your pockets when asked.

Tell Us About Anything Relevant

Before your session, please tell us about any relevant health conditions, pregnancy, implanted electronic devices, metal implants, history of seizures, recent procedures, or other circumstances that may affect whether a particular technology is appropriate for you.

Your RAIKO Journey

01. Initial Consultation

Your journey begins with a full consultation. We review your pre-visit information, discuss relevant health and lifestyle context, establish a baseline, and consider which RAIKO approaches may be appropriate for you. Together, we agree on the most appropriate next step, which may involve home-based actions, sessions at RAIKO, or guidance toward further assessment or support elsewhere.

02. Your Next Step

Following your consultation, we agree on the most appropriate next step. This may involve actions or strategies to work on at home, a series of sessions at RAIKO, or guidance to help you explore further assessment, testing or support with an appropriate healthcare professional or other provider.

03. Review & Recalibration

For longer series of sessions, we may include a short midpoint review to check progress and adjust the agreed approach where appropriate. This is a brief recalibration rather than a full consultation.

04. Follow-Up Consultation

At the end of the agreed plan, we meet again for a full follow-up consultation to review your progress, repeat relevant assessments where appropriate, and consider what has changed. From here, we decide whether to conclude the current plan, continue with further support, move toward home-based maintenance or self-management, or explore another appropriate route.

Three Possible Pathways

Home & Self-Management

You may leave with agreed actions to work on independently at home. These might involve lifestyle, behavioural or other supportive strategies, with a follow-up consultation after an agreed period to review what has changed and decide what comes next.

Sessions at RAIKO

You may agree on a series of sessions at RAIKO using the modality or combination of approaches selected during your consultation. The number of sessions will depend on the agreed plan, with brief check-ins along the way and a review point where appropriate.

Guidance & Further Support

Sometimes the most appropriate next step is outside RAIKO. You may leave with information and guidance to help you discuss further assessment, testing or other forms of support with an appropriately qualified healthcare professional or other provider.

What to Expect During Your Visit

01. Check-In & Baseline

Wear loose, comfortable clothing and follow the preparation guidance provided before your visit. When you arrive, we begin with a short check-in about how you are feeling and anything that may have affected you that day — such as stress, poor sleep, physical exertion or an unexpected event on the way. This helps us understand your current state and, where appropriate, adapt the session to support settling and nervous-system regulation.

02. Your Session

Once you are comfortable, your session begins using the modality or approach agreed during your consultation. You can relax while the session takes place, with adjustments made where appropriate based on your comfort and your check-in that day.

03. Check-Out & Follow-Up

At the end of your session, we complete a brief check-in to note how you are feeling and any relevant changes. Your progress is reviewed across the agreed series of sessions, with an additional review or calibration point where appropriate.
